| Tips for all squeezes |
Tip #1 – Communicate what you would like from your partner
Are there simple things that you would like to do or hear but you just
don’t know how to tell your partner? Have you been trying to tell them
in a roundabout way and they just haven’t figured it out ?
Communication is the key! Tell your partner what you would like. We can
help! Complete a Pleaseyoursqueeze survey and spell it out for your
partner! Since communication is a two-way street, invite your partner to
do the same! Perhaps he’d like some time to work on sorting out all
those screwdriver sets he’s been collecting as gifts over the years, or
maybe a night out to go see the latest action flick with a buddy.
By telling your partner what you want from your relationship in this
fun-loving, and gentle way, your life will be filled with wonderful
suprises, unexpected signs of love and devotion! Whether you’ve only
been together a short while, or you’re committed life-long partners, be
sure to complete a Pleaseyoursqueeze survey!

Tip #2 – Take notes of your partner’s passions and preferences
When your partner does tell you what they want, make sure it doesn’t go
the proverbial route of ‘in one ear and out the other’! Make a mental
note until you can write it down. Keep notes in the same place and refer
to them regularly. Better yet, have your partner complete a
Pleaseyoursqueeze survey and any sqWishlist they desire – these are sure
to become indispensable references! Print copies for your purse or glove
compartment. Refer to them often to remind yourself what they would like
to hear, do, or receive! Keep them close at hand and you’ll have easy
access to the name of the magazine she likes to read in the bubble bath
you’re going to run for her later, or his pant-size and favourite store
while you’re out at the mall.
Look at it before you walk in the front door to remember what she wants
to hear, or what he wants for dinner! Consider these as your personal
tool kit for relationship enrichment!

Tip #3 - Listen and learn
It’s said that you learn a lot more while listening than by talking.
Let your partner know that you care enough to listen to what’s important to
them. It isn’t always easy to open up – do your best to make your
partner feel comfortable when they talk to you. Be understanding and
sensitive as they speak by using your body language to show you’re
paying attention, and by using active listening techniques like
paraphrasing what they are saying or how they are feeling.
Listen without judging or getting defensive. Just because their
viewpoint might be different than yours, that doesn’t make them wrong.
Most importantly - if your squeeze is telling you a problem, reassure
them that they will find the answer. They’re not telling you because
they want you to figure it out for her – they’re simply sharing.

Tip #4 - Show appreciation
The most common complaint of people in a relationship is feeling
unappreciated, especially when they have to do something they don’t
enjoy and don’t get thanked for it. For example, many women make dinner
night after night for their family without being thanked. A simple
“Thanks so much for that meal, it was delicious. I love your
home-cooking” will go a long way. Do you like a meal in particular that
she makes for you? How about asking “You know those fantastic blueberry
pancakes you make? Is there any chance you might make some for us on the
weekend?” Then express your heartfelt appreciation when you get to enjoy
them by offering to do the clean-up.
For example, a man might be responsible for the lawn care. When he is
done cutting the lawn, you might choose to say something like “Honey,
thanks so much for cutting the grass. It really makes the property look
nice, doesn’t it?” You might also take him a cold glass or lemonade or a
beer.
Make time and effort to express appreciation to your partner, and they will return the favour.

Tip #5 - Surprise your squeeze
Remember back to the days of courting your squeeze and you’ll find that
one of the most enjoyable aspects was the element of surprise! Romantic
gestures, whether big or small, speak volumes and remind you why you
chose this person as your squeeze.
Verbal and written expressions of your love don’t cost a thing. Try one
of these:
Leave a little love note on the bathroom mirror or their morning coffee
mug.
Send a free squeezecard or email with a note saying what they mean to
you.
Ask your child to draw a picture or write a love note for you and pay
him/her a token amount. This will be a priceless souvenir for all of
you!
If your squeeze likes small gifts, consider purchasing a little
something as a surprise and present it in a unique way! Try one of
these:
- Buy your squeeze’s favourite magazine and put it on the edge of
the tub after you’ve prepared a warm bubble bath for them.
- Pack a gourmet lunch in their lunch bag or drop by work to share
lunch together!
- Buy an inexpensive pair of earrings for your lady before you go
on an outing together, and say you thought they would look pretty on
her.
- Make her a cup of tea and bring her favourite book as she’s
vacuuming, and finish the job for her, even if you suspect she’ll
think you’re an alien impostor.
The key is to be conscious of wanting to show your love and devotion
with small surprises. When you do this, you’ll find your squeeze looking
at you with tenderness and appreciation.
